About Us
The Short Change Band is comprised of four
members (and a lot of guest musicians). The Band
specializes in Southern Rock, Outlaw Country,
Classic Country, Classic Rock, Blues, Oldies plus Original
Music composed by members of the band.
Kevin Winters � vocals, lead and rhythm guitar
Kevin Winters provides lead vocals with a velvet
voice, as well as rhythm and lead guitar, mandolin,
and harmonica. Kevin is a retired Frito-Lay employee
and current owner of Doc's Homebrew Supplies.
He lives in Binghamton with his wife, Cindy. Kevin has been
writing the original music that the Short Change Band has
recorded and performed.
Mike Debetta � vocals, drums and percussion
Drums are played by Mike Debetta, who also sings
lead and back-up vocals, and occasionally plays bass guitar and congas as well.
Mike is also a volunteer fireman and fire police captain and EMS provider.
Mike lives in Afton with his wife Andrea.
Darrell Dennison � bass
Darrell Dennison plays the bass guitar and
keyboards. Darrell was a radio announcer and Dee Jay
for several years, and lives in Kirkwood with his
wife Tammy and two sons, Matt and Collin. Darrell
has a passion for music, games, sports (hockey, baseball,
football) and computers.
Kevin Travis Rutherford � Keyboards
Kevin "Travis" Rutherford started performing with the Short Change
Band in 2013. His first gig with SCB was on January
12, 2013 at Seeber's Tavern. "Travis" adds a new
dynamic to the band and helps fill the sound of the
band with his dual keyboards and many sounds
available with his keyboards. "Travis loves classic cars and regularly performs with his father
as a duo act.
The band is also fortunate enough to have great
support from their spouses, who attend gigs and
assist with equipment and set up, and lend a hand
whenever necessary.
With over a century of collective experience,
the Short Change Band has a vast repertoire spanning all
genres of music. The band is a tight-knit group and
enjoys playing together, as well as taking band
field trips to various music festivals and other
interesting places.
